Desk Table Lamp

A small table lamp built for a working surface. It sits on the desk itself, close to your hands, so the light lands on the page, the keyboard or the drawing in front of you rather than spreading out across the room.

Before ordering, measure the piece of the desk you can genuinely spare, and think about what already lives there — a keyboard, a glass, a stack of paper. Then decide where the light needs to fall when you are sitting down, not when you are standing in the doorway.

• Check the overall width as well as the base, because a shade can project past the footprint of the lamp.
• Check the switch is easy to reach from where you sit.
• Plan a cable route to the socket that does not pull the lamp towards the edge.

Bulbs and care

Fittings, bulb requirements and whether a bulb is included depend on the individual lamp, and a photograph never establishes compatibility. If any of that is missing where you are looking, ask us and we will confirm it for the lamp you want.

• Use only a compatible bulb within the lamp’s stated rating, and never exceed that limit.
• Switch off, disconnect the power and let the lamp cool before cleaning or changing a bulb.
• If a cable, fitting or other electrical part looks damaged, stop using the lamp and seek advice.
